Some great strategies on savings here. I often plan for meals on a Sunday and then shop for the week. I stick tightly to the plan and try to shop in green grocers and butchers when I can. Local markets are great places for cheaper foods. I try to stay away from supermarkets because I find them to be a trap, lots of temptations for things I don't really need. There is nothing worse than walking into the supermarket and coming out with a stack of things I don't want.

I've been interested in how many "Groupon"-type sites are actively pushing coupons to the user. Anybody else find that they're saving lots of money (Ha!) by buying their irresistible 50 or 60%-off deals?

This is AWESOME information - I used to do a "little" couponing, but what I've learned from your site and this information I'm using coupons every time I shop and I'm SHOCKED to see how much I save --- and happy to be shocked, by the way!

Thanks for all the great tips. I love couponing. I have been couponing for 1 year and have cut my grocery bill in half. Would love to win the coupons.

I actually love Netflix - it's much cheaper for us than pay-per-view and the local cable provider also censors what you can watch (no MTV for example, not that I watch it, but really - why not provide it?) so we don't do cable, however we do have Dish Network - gotta have Nick-Nick-Nickelodeon!

I was wondering the same about Netflix. They are by far my favorite. Their selection is perfect, especially if you don't watch only mainstream movies. Blockbuster censors their movies and doesn't carry certain titles that are readily available on Netflix. If you like Documentaries or Foreign Films or LGBT films you definitely need Netflix.

*sidenote: Censorship is also one of the main reasons I won't shop at Wal-Mart. I don't want a corporation telling me what I should read, listen to, or watch.

Why do you not like Netflix anymore? Did you have a bad experience? We used to do the Redbox and Blockbuster kiosks, but found the selection and availability thru Netflix is better (and you don't have to return them the next day). We also access Nflix thru Xbox Live (son's account), and that makes for instant entertainment. But if there's something I don't know.....
